Cole hasn't been well past few weeks complaining about his side hurting and such. Couldn't figure out what was going on. Saw doctor twice, bloodwork several times, ultrasound and X-ray as they though it was liver infection.

After his doctor appt yesterday and more bloodwork and x-rays he was sent to Children's Mercy ER to see a pediatric doctor and for another X-ray and ultrasound, and then transported to the main hospital via ambulance and admitted.

After all of that and a CT scan they saw his lungs are full of fluid, his right one almost completely full.  They saw a mass behind his kidney as well. They couldn't even believe he looked as well as he did and wasn't sicker given the CT scan.

The doctors, specialists and surgeons reviewed everything this morning and determined that he has extremely bad pneumonia, and they will need to drain the fluid from his lungs, and culture it to determine the bacteria they are fighting.

Good news is, it's not a "mass" by his kidney but rather the fluid in and around his lungs.  Bad news is, it is eating his lung cells. He has 3 teams working for him including an infectious disease team to examine the bacteria to see how best to treat it.  We're just waiting for anesthesia and his procedure around 2.

Cole has been so brave and strong like we know him to be, I am so proud of him.

Appreciate your prayers for my babe. 💙
