Chemo starts today!
We are excited that Levi is starting chemo today. As you know he had a rough morning yesterday. That turned into a rough afternoon and evening. Levi had to be intubated again so is back on the ventilator. During the process, his right lung collapsed but it reinflated without additional intervention. (We'll take the win.) His heart rate increased and he needed more sedation. He will probably be on the ventilator for a few days again.
All that being said, the doctors are pretty confident they can start chemo treatments today. We are ready to start kicking cancer out the door.
Many of you have asked if there is a way to financially and emotionally support Levi and his family. Reading this, posting your comments, and sending your prayers is extremely helpful. Keep on it!
Financially, right now, they are doing okay. Of course, surprises may come up, and we will cross that bridge if it comes. In the meantime, Zack's brother has put together a site where you can buy a t-shirt. We love the brightness and it captures a lot of spirit of Levi. Five dollars of each purchase will go into a fund for Levi. If Beth and Zack need it, it will be available. If they do not need it, it will be forwarded to the Iowa City Pediatric Brain Cancer Research Center and/or UI Stead Family's Children's Hospital Continuity of Care Program Fund which supports families in various ways.
