Day 13
Today we have learned that they are fairly confident that he is suffering from an attack by the Adenovirus. That the other viruses they have found - Ebstein Barr, Strep A, and Walking pneumonia are secondary at this point to the Adenovirus. In fact, several doctors have said it seems he has a rare text book version of this nasty virus. An older man probably would not have survived as long as Walker has to date. He is a fighter. An athlete that was headed to the side lines of FAU football this fall. His dream to cheer in college is side-lined for now with a long recovery ahead. The doctors have all said “this is going to take a long time”, probably many months to regain strength and certain abilities. At this point only time will tell the whole story.
Currently, he is living by the ECMO machine which oxygenates your blood for you to reduce the stress on the lungs and heart. And contrary to how we all live, this will be a slow recovery process. It is certainly going to change his life and our life together in a major way.
