Day 25 ICU day 15 ECMO

Mom writes

Everyday I sit and watch my son battle for his life. Today things have been very slow and that is OK. He is tired and needs extra help today. I am reminded how delicate his life is as I look at all the machines and watch as this awesome team works diligently all day and night together to make sure Walker has everything he needs to live and get better. I am so grateful for their endless drive to provide excellent safe care to Walker.

Dad

Today I made 50 (8x10) photos to use as flash cards to show Walker scenes from his life with family & friends. While I hope they help him in some way same day soon, in retrospect l believe they are somewhat hard to look at in his current state. Like seeing yourself in a colorful fun movie all the while you can barely move. Yesterday we saw light at the end of the tunnel which was exciting, today the reality of how long the tunnel is smarts. We sit next to him sharing our love for him praying continually with hope. Overall though this is very very tough and really really sucks!!

Walker is bringing gifts to this family like we have never known. I am reminded of Sting’s song (and my fave tune) “Fragile”. We will understand one day...none of this makes sense...but we will continue to hold on to each other tight, pray it up, count our blessings, and keep the faith!!!

So difficult a walk you all find yourself in. Sometimes we don’t understand until later but God is there for you in every way and every day. Sit in his lap and let him put his arms around you.
