Day 52 ICU care Day 42 on ECMO 

It’s Sunday fun day! We are heading outside at 1 pm with a huge team and all his machines to let the sun shine on his face for 1st time in 52 days since entering ICU care. He is very excited!!

His recovery is moving along slowly but it seems we can safely say surely. All things considered we are confident we will make it through this next phase to get home. As his nurse just said “your getting better everyday.” Praise God!!

We have lots of work ahead but nothing compared to what we have come through so far. When I think of the term roller coaster ride in comparison this ride had a constant downhill run with some minor flat spots but mostly radically steep declines where your screaming and holding on for 50 days straight. We will always recall Day 40 of ECMO (50 days ICU care) as the moment when the coaster hit a new hill and that loud clicking noise hit as the car locks in for the climb up the incline. At that moment you know you can relax a bit as you see the climb ahead and know your safely locked in for the ride. 

Walker loves roller coasters and would ride them nonstop all day long at the parks. I remember a day at Busch Gardens Tampa where he road SheiKra with a floating drop off the top and one of the longest declines in the business at least 26 times. Hmmm sound familiar? We will all be very thankful when this rare and crazy life coaster comes to a stop and we can get off. 

Please continue your prayers for healing of his lungs and for his kidneys to restart. And that all germs, bacteria, and viruses die instantly when they touch his body to protect his recovery. Thank you 🙏
