7-18

The eagle has landed.

Lots of Florida Hospital staff came by to say goodbye to Walker before he left all very happy to see him heading home with big smiles. He is the juice that makes their job so rewarding. The staff from the ECMO floor that came to see him off was especially sweet for Walker.

After an exciting yet challenging first couple of days, things seem to be leveling out this am. His first day was definitely very exciting and very shocking for Walker as reality hits home. The reality that all of his care relies solely upon Candy and I is a big adjustment for us as well. Let’s just say it takes two to make this thing go right.

Candy is such a champ at handling Walker and all the care issues that he has at the moment and like every great champ, she has an awesome support staff, Moi :-). In Gods timing, it was already scheduled that Laura was heading out yesterday to head up to stay a week with her super sweet cousin Cassidy. This stay gives us time to focus solely on Walker and to establish a successful routine to the day working through inevitable momentary panic modes until He is more comfortable.

Our Eagle 馃 definitely has a very damaged left wing (lung) that the Docs have told him will not recover or be useful in the future. And as I may have mentioned a long while back, God provided us an example of a young man, Hessaim Jebailey, who had a similar situation as Walker, a severe pneumonia, 20 yrs ago where they took out his left lung. Today he is 41 and in fine athletic shape having just run a triathlon recently. He has met Walker several times and it has given him a strong vision of hope for his recovery. How awesome is that!!

We are asking for prayers specifically for his kidneys to kick back in to working again. And for protection around his lungs from bacteria. So the journey home has worked, he’s home. And we are sooooo thankful God hears our prayers. As Walker said in his Instagram post recently “to God be the Glory”. Amen!
