This is how we roll! Laura decided to step up her game on Thursday while on a Geneva School retreat, breaking her left ring finger in signature fashion. Girl does not play. She was darn good and tired of Walker getting all the attention!!

She tells me repeatedly it’s only a finger Dad. Yet it puts her cheer sport on hold for at least two months, luckily she says “I’m right handed so I can do my school work”. That-a girl Laura. She’s a champion kid, we are so blessed to have a strong Gods girl who has taken great care of herself throughout our extended ordeal. So a little minor trauma no big deal, right?

So, Walker see’s this action happening over last couple of days and decided “oh no she din-tint” (adding a little head swagger). And after a long night up and down out of bed, his mom at his side, with very tough breathing issues, like I can’t. At 7am, it comes to a critical mass as he asked me to call 911.

The ambulance rushes Walker & Mom to Advent Health south, he is brought in immediately and stabilized. They found he has a pneumonia infection that is the main culprit behind this emergency. He is doing good right now in very good spirits, especially because they put him right back onto 5th floor (where like the TV show Cheers, Everybody knows his name :-)), and we expect he’ll be coming home by Tuesday Wednesday at the latest. Pheeww!!

Laura taking a backseat once again. No but seriously, if I could not find some humor in our absurd goings on I would have snapped long ago. Thanks be to God for giving me a strong sense of humor. We have all learned the art of continuing to breathe, just breathe through these things is about all you can do sometimes.

Truth be told, it has been a very hard couple of days (so what’s new you say) but as always in His time there is a light at the end of the tunnel, while it may be faint there is still light. For this I give thanks. We are into our third marathon at this point, mom and dad passing water bottles and fruit to each other along with the baton as we run through this obstacle course from h… Thankful are we that greater is He that is in us, then he that is in the world.

What’s left to say but “It’s all in a McKnight Life”

I pray for continued healing of Walkers body and for Laura’s finger to heal. And supernatural strength and patience for Candy. And positive financial results for me getting out this week to meet with several families to talk trusts and finances.
