Merry Christmas to you

It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for Walker and Candy as they work in synch to stay ahead of various lung issues and chasing blood pressures as Candy calls it. Yes, still getting better but breathing still a daily workout to find a proper balance. Walker takes himself to many of his appointments these days managing his ever present oxygen tanks in tow. Our prayer ask for Walker would be for supernatural healing of his right lung and a renewed focused direction for his physical therapies.

A friend said to me a couple of weeks ago, “what are you doing to make room in your heart for Christ this Christmas?” That got me to thinking a lot about what do I and my family do specifically to make room for him. For me, and many others I believe, it is the music that, like a musical can-opener, cracks open our hearts letting joy seep in to start to prepare our hearts for the truth that is the Christ child. We listen, and hear, and sing so many glorious songs that shine a light into our hearts preparing them for the truth, the amazing truth that God chose to be born as man.

And to think that it’s possible to hold that gift from God in our hearts and in our minds forever, changing us at our core is grace. The music is a key that opens the door to begin making room and our loved ones move us to create the space in our hearts that allow his grace to enter and set up residence. We give gifts to one another in remembrance of the greatest gift ever given. God gave of himself so that we might experience a taste of his kingdom here and now while we live. Even though many days it’s very hard for us to see or feel Gods presence in the midst of this upside down turbulent world, we get a few days every year in a brief season called Christmas to fill our hearts and minds with all that is good and righteous and honorable. To the glory of God.

And even in the midst of some of the most heart wrenching times imaginable, like our life this year, sometimes we are blessed by Gods presence to fill our hearts with a love that digs deep into us whispering the name of Jesus. So, as we close the book on this Christmas Day 2019, we will always remember the space that God made in our hearts this year to hold on to our son, holding on by the strength and grace of his son, Jesus.

With grateful hearts we wish you a Merry Christmas and that you will have lots of space in your heart this year to receive God’s Grace. Amen.
