Positive Thinking and Determination

Ben reminds us about the power of positive thinking and determination!  I felt inspired to show him off.

Yesterday Ben decided he wanted to get Spike up into the fort WITHOUT any help.  He said “Dad, I can put him in his back pack and climb up the pole.”   This was at 5pm, and mostly towards the end of the day Ben is tired.  I told him, “Awesome idea Ben, it might be hard right now, but I’m sure you got it in the morning.”   Honestly, I wasn’t sure about the success of this either way.

Ben was determined to give it a try.  He tried twice and couldn't get it.  I was worried he was going to be frustrated and dissapointed and spiral into negativity.  I went over to water the grass and turned around and he was halfway up the pole! This is why in the link below to the video, it only shows him just getting to the top.  “Just not quick enough with my phone.”

I felt inspired to share his words.  He has so much that he has to go through every day and his perspective is motivating to me (be determined and think positive).  I also love that he wants to show his mom! When she got home he successfully did it again!

Interestingly, Spike weighs 15lbs which is 23% of Ben’s weight so that would mean I need to try it with a 35lb weight........stay tuned on that!

We bring our children into this world thinking we will teach them everything we know. What we find out is that they teach us things we never dreamed we'd come to know.

What an amazing young man. He was determined to climb that pole with his pet on his back and he did it. Apparently giving up is not something he does. What a proud moment.
