Gratitude
From Mary:
Living in gratitude for all the love, expert care, and continued support for Bob in his journey back to "being Bob" again...
- Your love, prayers, positive thoughts and rosaries (yes, non-Catholics: look that up!) are so appreciated by our family as we rally together to help Bob take his next steps.
- We are extremely grateful for the wonderful care Bob has received at Tacoma General. The doctors, RNs (special blessings for them!), CNAs, Respiratory Therapists, PTs, OTs, and Speech Therapists have all been instrumental in getting Bob back on his feet and breathing normally. It took a medical village and a lot of equipment to keep Bob alive while his lungs and brain struggled to resume normal function.
- Stop sometimes and remember: your body, with all its systems working together, is a living miracle! The intricacies that we take for granted when it's all working are exquisite! As I watched Bob hooked up to all sorts of equipment (with the specialists reading all the metrics on display), I thought of Jeff's tattoo: Every breath...is a gift. The ventilator provided those breaths for Bob for 10 days. And with the expert care he received, his lungs began to resume their function. Breath is the foundation for life.
More updates later today as we learn about moving Bob to the next step in his journey: an Inpatient Rehab center where he'll be put through his paces with physical and cognitive therapy.

Amen to all that you have said so beautifully, Mary. Every breath is, indeed, a gift. We do forget all the intricate miracles that keep us alive and functioning—even when we sleep. Despite all the worries, pains, and frustrations there is really much for which to be grateful. So we join you in gratitude, also.
You have a beautiful way of explaining how our body functions and the many caring people who intervene when needed. As I do each day, wishing Bob a speedy recovery and pray that inpatient rehab will help that along. Love to all, Mary Keane
Wonderful reminders, Mary!
