He Speaks!!!
Written by Bob:
Great News Everyone! I will be going home Saturday after being released from In-patient Rehab at Evergreen Hospital. I will be starting Out-Patient rehab next week for speech, occupational and physical disciplines.
After 25 days in the hospital, I am ready for my own bed, bathroom, TV and all the comforts of home especially the peace and quiet! For those of you who might not have heard, I had a boating accident where I fell off a sailboat during the docking process into Tacoma’s Commencement Bay Marina and nearly drowned, drinking a lot of seawater and swimming underwater for about 5 minutes.
I want to give special thanks to my wife Mary, my children Nikki and Jeff, my son-in-law George, grandchildren Abby and Colton and my brother Jerry for their unfailing support, love, help and caring. Also to my multitude of caregivers, doctors, nurses and aides in the hospital & intensive care unit at Tacoma General, rehab center at Evergreen Hospital and future thanks to my out-patient rehab folks I’ve yet to meet.
None of my care and rehab would have been possible without my friend Chea who dove in the water and brought me to the surface. I would be in a very different place if not for her. I will be forever thankful for her friendship, diving skills and for saving my life.
And a final thanks to all of you… my friends, relatives, customers…. My lifeline of support from and to the rest of the world. Your emails, flowers, FB posts, cards, offers to bring food, treats and love/support are far too numerous to answer directly and still keep my rehab going! I look forward to connecting with you somehow in person soon!
My immediate future consists on resting at home, and out-patient rehab at least 3 times per week. I’m not able to drive immediately, nor do photo sessions for a bit. But I will be in touch as soon as I can schedule those in a few weeks. I’ll be catching up on album design and retouching as my brain and body allow.
Visitors are welcome at home, just please schedule with Mary or I first.

Hi, there, Bob—It's wonderful to hear you in your own words! And we are all really excited and grateful for the amazing recovery you have been able to make. Therapy is certainly not as much fun as mountain climbing, but it takes just as much courage and determination. We are all behind you! Keep going!
