1:00 am

Brian continues to make us laugh.  He was asking everyone how they were doing after his own surgery (typical Brian).  He was up and walking to the bathroom at 11:00 pm last night by his choice.  He is still sleeping on and off.  He is still on a pump for pain but I believe they will wean him off sometime today and get him on meds that are not as strong along with Tylenol.  He is also on an antibiotic which is common after surgery.

4:30 am

They took him down for an MRI around 4:00 am and everything came back good as far as the surgery is concerned.  We still do not have the results back from Pathology as to the type of cancer Brian has.

10:00 am

Doctor Tomita came in and checked Brian's vision (that's one thing as a result of surgery that they were concerned he may lose his upper left peripheral vision) but that checked out all good!  The nurse has come in and taken Brian off the I.V. meds and has begun oral medication.  He ate four (4) pieces of toast and some apple juice.  His appetite has not decreased as he was telling us he had a taste for prime rib with horseradish, Giordano's pizza, Domino's pizza and mashed potatoes.  I think we'll be able to supply him with the mashed potatoes for a start.

7:30 pm

So … if Brian's not sleeping … he's eating!  He had 2 meatloaf "cupcakes" topped with mashed potatoes and peas.  Along with two extra scoops of mashed potatoes, 2 bread sticks and filled in the cracks with a chocolate chip cookie.  Doctor came back in and said Brian was looking good … his face is a little swollen but to be expected from surgery.  They also want him to get up and walk the floors starting tomorrow and he will see an occupational therapist and physical therapist tomorrow.

Such a sweet boy. (I know. I know. He's a young man but he's still Momma's baby!) Reading your updates about his humor and upbeat attitude warms my heart and makes me smile. Please let him know that the Markiewicz's are thinking of him. <3

Even though I don't know Brian, it sounds like he is being himself. Positivity helps so much during a crisis and a great support system like you all have.

Beams stay strong! There is a lot to still be grateful for . Brian is speaking , and walking , his pain is being managed and he wants to eat and can. It's these small things we need to stay focused on until we get to that next road to go down. We are all here for you , you are not alone . WE ARE ALL TEAM BRIAN And love you all so very much!😘
