Cancer!

Thanks for visiting.  Initially it seemed silly to write a "cancer blog," but in just a few days I have been overwhelmed with well wishes and offers of help (what a nice problem to have) and many questions about my cancer.  So I have decided to put all the information in one place so interested folks can check in.  If ever there was a time to ask the universe for love and support this is it.  So thanks for thinking of me on my journey back to health.  If you want to visit/call/skype me at home, see the post on "visiting" and feel free to share with anyone.

I have learned that it is not helpful when people ask me "how are you" because my answer is likely "not so good."  So instead, just share some good news from your life.  A funny cat video, or some uplifting news, or a funny cat video!  The most helpful gift is making plans for fun adventures when I am feeling better.  Most days staying positive for the future is my biggest challenge.

My second motivation for this little blog is to share information about ovarian cancer because it is a sneaky bastard!  The symptoms are so vague and subtle that they are easy to dismiss or delay seeking advice.  If sharing my story can increase awareness for just one person then I will be happy.  In the days following surgery, when I have the energy, I will post more about ovarian cancer symptoms.  If diagnosed early ovarian cancer has a 90% survival rate, but very few cases are caught early.

Michelle Kendall-- I always knew you were one of the smartest people in the room- any room--but I hadn't a clue you were such a talented writer! You have captured your distinctive voice - in prose - and it makes me smile and cry and miss you so much. I love you tons and am on a search for cat videos. Dear one! You are in my heart.
