Answered Prayers and a New Process

We have been waiting patiently, or maybe impatiently, for NOC only to learn that India had been waiting on our home study update before issuing NOC. This was unexpected for our agency and for us. We have completed most of our home study update, but we weren't rushing it. When we learned that we were actually causing the delay we were pretty disappointed and moved up our meeting with our social worker. It will take a short time to process the home study update, but then NOC is around the corner!

Yesterday we got great news about the court process. Telangana has required parents to travel to appear in court, go home, and then return to pick up the child after the passport and birth certificate are prepared. Virtual appointments had been made available during Covid, and we requested this but were denied. We have been considering for a few weeks the logistics of traveling twice to India when the care of a a five-year-old is now in the mix. But yesterday we got word from our agency that a whole year after India announced a new court process that they are actually enacting it. The change makes the process more uniform across the country and is intended to shorten and streamline the court process. The delay in NOC caused us to not have a court appointment yet, and so now we get to be in on this new process with only one trip! This saves us tons of time and money! This is definitely an answer to prayer!

There has been no activity as far as updates, so we hold two precious photos. Two photos to document her 15 months of life. I hope Evelyn's caregivers are teaching her to say cheese because we will be coming in hot with cameras at our long-awaited meeting with her.

Kira is ever more eager for a little sister and will be happy to have another willing subject to play school or cars with. She brought a couple cars with to church one day and was asked which she liked most - the blue one or the black one. "The Lamborghini," she answered. So that's been an unexpected interest. She also started kindergarten this week.

David continues to heal well and except for going through lotion like water and being the only man in Disney World in pants (sun protection). Life feels just about normal again. Hopefully the normal won't last long and we'll be on our way to get Evelyn soon!
