Choose to be happy

The news that we received today was not what we had hoped and prayed for.  There is a part of the tumor in the lungs that is now growing; unfortunately it is near the heart.  Tomorrow morning mom will have an Echocardiogram to check to see if the cancer is invading the lining of the heart.  The present plan is to continue on Tarceva (targeted drug therapy) as it is containing most of the cancer. Now after all of that bad news, the good news is that she still feels great.  She is able to enjoy life! After some tears today, she has decided that she can choose to be miserable or happy.  I am sure you know that she is going to be happy!   We will keep you posted on the results of the Echocardiogram.  We are so blessed by the extent of our caring, faithful network of support. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death. ~Author Unknown

Cris - I am so sorry to hear this but know that your positive attitude, faith and your family will help you overcome this - none of us know what's around the corner so live life to the fullest and keep that smile on your beautiful face. It's amazing how a positive outlook can conquer so much - I saw this with my sister-in-law when she went through her battle. Prayers are continuing for you and your family - Anne Fox

I think of u all the time and really miss u guys! In my experience as a hospice nurse...having a positive outlook and faith and support that u do can beat anything that is thrown ur way!!! U may need the drug to get this nasty thing under control, but a strong-willed mind and God is the ultimate need for survival. Love u Chris and praying for u and ur loving, strong family always!

Dear Cris, I have been silently following your journey and I want you to know how inspiring you are. Being in your classroom gave me the opportunity to get to know the kind and thoughtful person that encouraged and set a good example for your students. And even now, you continue to set a good example for all around you by choosing to be happy. You are a courageous and strong woman. You inspire me!!!

Wow Cris ~ yet another "yuck and yay". Yucky news and yet, yay, for the way you found, and generously model (true educator that you are!), how to embrace challlenge on your own terms; and how we all hope we would/will face challenges in our own lives! A true and good friend just said to me this week, "God sheds enough light for us to see just the next step; then we walk forward in faith." As you and yours walk forward in faith I hope you feel and see the light on the next step. You are all in our hearts and prayers. Missy White
