Expecting a miracle
I hope that you all enjoy the holiday season with your families. I’m sure you will treasure every moment with your loved ones just as we will. I know that I have not been great about updating you and I will try to be better in the New Year. Mom finished six rounds of chemotherapy this Fall and has begun a new form of targeted chemotherapy. We are so thankful for this miracle drug that was FDA approved 4 days before mom really needed it. It has helped her to feel close to normal again which we are all so grateful for. Speaking of miracles, I need to mention my Dad. He works tirelessly to be Mom’s biggest advocate and has helped her to receive the best treatment there is. I admire his strength each and every day. I love you Dad even though I don’t tell you half as much as I should. I also need to mention my “other mom and dad” Beth and Randy for being an unbelievable support system for us. On days when I need comfort the most, I call or visit Beth and Randy. They have such an amazing way of calming me down and helping me to accept the worst parts of this disease while also staying positive for Mom. Thank you doesn’t even touch how grateful I am for both of you.
Last year a family friend bought us bracelets that say “No one fights alone”. I have worn this bracelet on my wrist each and every day for the past year and every day I am amazed at how true this is. Each person in my mom’s life has played a role in helping her to fight this fight with strength and determination. So thank you, for whatever role you have played in helping lift our spirits, feed us, or show us love. It means more than you know to me and my family.
This past week we were shown the truest gift of kindness by the wonderful women at Victor ECS. They organized “Caroling for Cris”, which involved them driving from Victor to LeRoy, lighting luminaries down our driveway, singing numerous Christmas carols to my mom on her doorstep, and providing some yummy treats. Mom was busy in the basement playing with her great niece and nephew from North Carolina when I told her someone was at the door. The look on her face when she heard carolers in her driveway was priceless. It was totally worth the surprise. We had a wonderful night full of laughter and hugs with family and friends. That will probably be my favorite Christmas gift this year. So thank you VECS for being the extra boost we needed during this holiday time. You continue to amaze me with your selflessness. I know you all had dinners to make, presents to wrap, and time to spend with family but thank you for helping to bring a huge smile to Mom’s face.
My Mom reads all kinds of inspirational books that people have sent her along the way and she loved this quote that she read the other day. " Expect to see miracles--and you will." So we are all expecting a miracle. Once again, have a wonderful Christmas with your families and continue to send prayers and positive thoughts our way as we all fight with and for my best friend, my mom. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Dad and and I have been witnessing a miracle happening before our eyes each time we have seen you over the last couple of weeks. No questioning the prayers from many people have been reaching our Maker. Could it be just a coincidence that the new pill was just approved a few days before you needed it? We love you and your family. Reilly, A great update and upper for all the people who love your. Mom + Dad
