Breaking news!
We just got confirmation that the physicians associated with the vaccine trial reviewed Derek's case and they agreed with our local oncologist that Derek would be a good candidate for the vaccine trial. I believe this is great news!
However, it is standard that patients wait 4 weeks after radiation is complete before they can start the vaccine trial. So we hope to get some dates nailed down soon. They are working on the details now.
This treatment should be much easier on his body than standard chemotherapy. So I hope his quality of life will be much better than it would be on chemo.
I am sure we will get more details as they become pertinent.
