2 months later

Derek's tumor was found 2 months ago. It is amazing how fast time is flying. Derek had a more comfortable day today. The pressure behind his eyes was gone and he had his energy back.

My appointment with the oncologist went well. He said that this is a very rare cancer. He also said that he did not plan to see me again until after the surgery, and then only if the ENT Dr feels it is needed. It all depends on how surgery goes and what the margins of the tumor are like.

Please keep us informed. Am very glad that Derek had a good day. Just thought I should let you know he had a really good morning in Sunday School. He was able to do the worksheets with no help. After class he told me he was glad I am his teacher - I told him I am blessed to have him and Gabe as my students. We will continue to keep both of you in our prayers. Hugs to both of you!

I'm so glad to hear that he had a more comfortable day. I keep going back to our pre-Christmas visit and how sweet and just plain wonderful he was (and is!). Thinking of how his face lights up when he smiles just puts a smile on my face! (and Kate can do the same thing to me too!) And the hugs!!! They are the BEST! God is watching over your family. He knows what you need when you need it and I am in awe of your steadfast faith! You are surrounded in prayer by so many who love and care about the Youngs! And as for you...we will be praying for your surgery, your surgeon, nurses and all of your care takers as we do with Derek. We are hoping for the same thing that you are I am sure! Get in, get it out, move on! :) Love and Hugs to the Youngsters!

We're so happy Derek had a better day. Hope everything starts looking up for him. He is going through so much. Sounds like your oncologist is giving you a lot of hope. Let's pray that they can remove every bit of it and you will be done with it. Our love to Derek, Kate, you and Ryan.

So glad Derek is having a better day! Not used to seeing a sad face on his normally smiley face. Hugs to Derek from Grandma! Angela, stay strong and positive as you always are. Sounds like things are progressing along. One step at a time. Love you all.
