Walking and an outing

Original posting date: December 14, 2015

Derek walked all the way around the ward today with his walker. He was disconnected from his IV pole and we went for his eye exam across the street. He rode in his wheelchair. His eyes are improving. YAY! He walked around the floor this afternoon at breakneck speed. All of that wiped him out for a few hours. He got his hair washed tonight. His "hat" was removed a couple days ago and his hair was quite crusty. His neurosurgeon came to check on him and he is very happy with Derek's progress. He said that Derek's monotone talking is due to the tumor being at the brainstem and he feels that is something that will get better with time. Tomorrow we have another field trip where we actually get to drive Derek to a CT and to get fitted for his radiation mask. He is calling it his Storm Trooper mask since everyone keeps calling him a trooper. His neurosurgeon asked if we were going to take him out to lunch, and now that we have the go ahead, if he is feeling up to it, we may just have to do that. We continue to be overwhelmed by the support of my AEC family and by everyone else who has offered and given support. Thank you![...]

first unsedated MRI and he was a bit scared in it. The MRI showed there were no strokes and all looked as he
had expected it to.[...]
