...and then THIS happened!
Emma's therapy session was amazing today. I'm so glad it happened! I learned how to apply pressure to Emma's body in a calming way -- it is a technique used to help children with sensory processing disorders be present in the moment. Emma just melted in my arms when I started. Seriously, it felt like a life changing moment.
Our little girl is very focused on Mama being the one that she will approach for hugs, and rarely spends time with Daddy (and it's certainly not for his lack of trying. She actively pulls away from him).
Tonight, I applied pressure to her limbs while Daddy read a story. After about 5 minutes, Emma sat on Daddy's chest and let him talk to her. She stayed there for 10 minutes. It sounds so tiny and insignificant, but this small incident just made our day/week/month. I'm so grateful for phone cameras. I was able to snap a couple of quick photos without interrupting the moment, and am so happy to share them with you.

Much love, Emma's ecstatic parents x

The power of the hug. I learned that while working at Easter Seals. Check out www.templegrandin.com. or google Dr. Temple Grandin. Amazing woman.
Oh, this is the most amazing news. I'm SO happy for your family. The pictures bring tears to my eyes - happy tears! 10 minutes is a really long time to share her love and attention. This is probably Adam's most precious Valentine gift.
