Update
I have had a few requests for Eric updates over the past several days.....usually that means that I haven't updated here in a while. Oops. Our apologies! Hopefully each of you had great holidays and are off and running in your new year!
There really isn't much to update. I suppose that is really a good sign in disguise. Things have been fairly stable-all things considered.
Eric finished up Chemo Round 1 just before the new year, but has so far been unable to restart chemo. We are waiting for his bone marrow to recover somewhat before he can start the next round which unfortunately has meant waiting, waiting, and even more waiting. We are and have been monitoring Eric's lab values very closely. That has meant weekly and sometimes twice weekly lab visits. Eric is now on a first name friendly basis with the lab tech that draws his blood (no surprise there!). The plan is for Eric to begin the next chemo round (Round 2) whenever his lab values show he has recovered to an appropriate level.
In the meantime, Eric recently began teaching his second semester classes this week. He is teaching Numerical Analysis and Machine Learning. He has one class each day as well as some other academically oriented obligations such as office hours, meetings, research students and a smattering of other tasks to help keep him busy. He has so far been tolerating this level of work.
There isn't much else to write as things have been in a holding pattern but we wanted to let each of you know that Eric is doing quite well all things considered.
