More Sullivans Invade Helena

Last week all the Sullivan siblings hit Helena.  This week Mom and Dad Sullivan traveled from La Crosse, Wisconsin to spend a few days hanging out with Eric and Johnanna , and Aspen pup. It was wintertime cold in both La Crosse and Helena, so we arrived with our usual mittens, hats, hiking spikes and long johns. Plus, we had been instructed to bring bathing suits for a trip to the hot springs.

Our four days in Helena were spent helping with household tasks, running neighborhood errands,  taking long mountain hikes (and neighborhood strolls)  with Eric and Aspen, and enjoying the relaxation of soaking in the hot springs with both Eric and J.  Eric continues to be a “mountain man” – taking great joy in hiking the mountain trails with relative ease. He has rigged a backpack system to carry his Optune (aka Kevin) device battery packs, so we were able to cover several miles without interrupting any treatments.  We stopped often to enjoy the beautiful Montana scenery. (Actually, we stopped often so I could catch my breath.  There’s a lot less oxygen at Helena altitude than in southwestern Wisconsin!).

Dad got to attend class with Professor Eric, but I’m not sure that Eric made Dad answer any questions during class.   Drew had attended a similar class which Eric taught last fall and he had fun greeting some of the students that he recognized.

Naps were an important component of each day, as were fun dinner and evening conversations. One of our “jobs” was to help eat up all the leftovers in the refrig before Eric and J head off on their wildly anticipated spring break trip to Hawaii. (Trip approved by his medical care teams).  They are so looking forward to sun, sand, surf and sushi!
