Sullivan Siblings Weekend
Ice and snow storms couldn't stop the Sullivan siblings from descending on Helena this past weekend. Doug in from LaCrosse, WI, Julie from Kansas City, MO, and I flew in from Bend, OR.
The weekend involved some much-needed time together. We road tripped with Eric and J down to Bozeman for Eric's Avastin infusion. Eric rallied after his infusion and taught his Machine Learning class. Doug and I sat in on the class - watching the magic happen and mostly staying silent because the topic was completely over our heads! Doug did manage to answer one softball question correctly (he was pretty proud of himself).
We spent one relaxing morning at Helena's hot springs, slowly dehydrating ourselves. This was followed by an afternoon of inside jokes (seriously who knew the movie Talladega Nights had so many memorable one-liners), reminiscing about childhood events from 4 different perspectives, and eating way too much brisket. We did learn that brisket and eggs are surprisingly good! Bonus, we packed in a few rounds of the classic family game battleship.
Each day required some 'powering down' time when naps were had. Important decisions were also made. Like naming Eric's Optune device 'Kevin.' Every time the battery beeped on the device, someone would say, 'stop it, Kevin.' We wrapped up the weekend putting on ice spikes and going for a snowy, windy, invigorating hike around Mt. Helena because movement is medicine.
I think we all got up too early and stayed up too late. But, the laughs and family time were worth it!
