Emily's 15th and the Dog Days of Summer

Yesterday we celebrated Emily's 15th birthday! Although we didn't go outside, Grace got up in a chair for the second time and saw the snow with her sister. Pastor Alan Strout has a friend that lives in this area, and they are letting us use their car so we will have the ability to get Emily to school. We are continually grateful for those that have stepped forward in our time of need.

We also got a flood of cards today, and have started redecorating Graces room! You can see some of the cards we've already posted in the picture below.

Gracie also got a visit from a big fluffy dog named "Summer" as part of their pet therapy program. Brought smiles all around. Good doggie!

Reminder: on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15 from 6pm to 9pm, there will be a Concert For Gracie at The Blind Tiger, 409 State Street. This is likely to be a full event, so come early. Hector Hurtado and Roger Perry are coordinating the concert, which will feature several local bands (Brandi & Jami, The Branbles, Monkey House, Bad Jack, and others) as well as groups who know Gracie or that she's been involved with. It's open to all ages, and should be a great evening. All donations will go to the Fishers. You can download a flyer here: http://helpgracie.corr.org/concert4gracie.pdf.

Couple quick administrative notes:

1. If you'd like to contact me, you can always click on my name at the end of any posting to send me a private message (this is true of anyone on the site). If you have any questions, or there is anything I can help you with, feel free to contact me.

2. I'm amazed at how many people are following Gracie's story, it's awesome. There are lots of comments to every journal entry, and many posts, and I know the Fishers have enjoyed reading them to Gracie. However, if you are getting too many emails because of all of this activity, you can reduce it so that you only receive emails for the journal entries that I am posting, but not the comments and posts from others. To change that, click the Nofitications button in the upper right corner, and then change Receive emails when there are new Posts? to No (this controls notifications when people add to the Posts section), and also change Receive emails when users comment on updates, posts or photos? to No (this controls notifications when people make comments to journal entries). You can always turn them back on later.

Paul

Stay in the know. Sign up to receive email notifications the moment new Journal entries are posted

Happy Birthday Emily!! What a great little sister you are. Debbie, the Acorn is going to run a story, but it will not be this week. Gracie, your smile! That's all I think about. Your smile makes me smile. Julia was laughing so much about the macaroni and cheese memory! What made us laugh even harder is you girls were doing it to QUINN's Mac n cheese! You have to love big sisters!! I am so happy Gracie is getting the therapy that she needs right now. I hope that means you and Bill are getting some rest. As you know, you all amaze everyone! Thank you for inspiring everyone. I hope you feel the love!!!

Happy Birthday Emily! You share a birthday with my paternal grandmother....the only two people I have known to be born on Groundhog's Day. Unfortunately, the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday....6 more weeks of winter. Considering that we got 3 feet of snow in the last week, that is NOT welcome news for us in Boston! Although I have not posted many comments on this site, I want you all to know that I think about you all MANY times EVERY day. I had someone come up to me at church on Sunday and ask me how you are doing, Gracie. He said that HE thinks about you and prays for you all the time as well! Please know that you have a ton of people routing for you (many that you have never even met) . I hope that your stay at Craig Hospital goes well and that we will get to see you back in SB when we are visiting this summer.
