Post chemo #1
Hayden has been amazing thus far, a real trooper especially with the rapid pace everything has happened. During treatment he was oblivious to the fact he was actually getting it because he couldn't feel it. The next 24 hours he was fine , and all the way home. And slept a full night his first night home. The morning following he was noticeably still tired and not super motivated to do much, so we continued movie watching for the day. He had a decent appetite that evening as well. Late that second evening Hayden began to experience some pain in his joints and teeth/face which lasted 2-3 days total, and increased in severity for some reason in the evening when he was trying to sleep. His throat had also become quite sore which is where the liquid diet came into play. He had lost his appetite for sure but would eat a few bites for me while I praised him for doing so well through all this so far. Such a good kid... Like I said before, he's been a blessing to our lives since day 1...same with his brother Garrett. I pray these side effects don't happen every cycle we take him through, as you all can imagine seeing your child broken or in pain and not being able to mend their wound or help them with their pain. As a mechanic, father and husband it's my job to be able to fix things, and though I can't fix everything about this situation Jesus Christ can! I truly believe that. We go back to Stanford on Wednesday for round 2 of chemo. I want to say a personal thank you to all who have donated and posted words of encouragement to Hayden and the family. I read your messages aloud in the house for all to hear, and Hayden enjoys reading them as well. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your continued support, prayer and words of encouragement to my little soldier Hayden. Nate~

Thank you for the update, Nate. I have been thinking about Hayden and your family daily and we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Chemotherapy is a roller coaster. Good days, bad days. Appetite, nausea. Energy, lethargy. Like with all roller coasters, there is a final turn and the amazing feeling to be done! (Kind of like me when our ride on the Giant Dipper was finally done. The girls wanted to go again, but once was enough for this mom!) Stay in the moment, but keep your eyes on the horizon. All our best!!
Hayden we love you so much. You are such an awesome person and we hope you have a good day today! Love Shay and Bucky:)
I am sitting here with Jack reading your posts, Nate we are touched by your beautiful words. We have so much love for your family and boys. Sam has always been like a daughter to us so when we found out she was pregnant we were all so happy it would be the first baby born into this beautiful group of best friends. Then came Hayden this beautiful fun loving little boy that you both shared with us with many fun camping trips, parties and many more adventures, he is truly a shinning light and so much fun to be around we both love him dearly as well as Garrett. We hold you all in our hearts and prayers daily, through all of this you will grow stronger as a family. God works in mysterious ways all we can do is have faith and believe Hayden will be fine he is here as your teacher as is all children. God Bless. Jack and Fay
