Day 3 - All Settled In
Joe has settled into his room with his new roommate (Gertie, his IV pole). They have become best of friends and go everywhere together! He's got a great view from his room and we've done some decorating with family pictures too.
After arriving at 3 pm on Tuesday, had his first round of chemo at 10 pm Tuesday night and his second round of chemo at 10 am Wednesday morning. Today is a rest day and they'll even remove his IV for 24 hours. Tomorrow, Friday, 9/5, he will receive his stem cell transplant about noon which will be 3 IV bags and should take about 30 to 45 minutes. The nurses are creating a calendar for him so he knows what to expect. They have shared that they will be able to tell him exactly how he'll be feeling on any given day so I don't think we're in for any big surprises but the road is about to get much rougher.
He rested well on Tuesday night, but Wednesday night had a bit of a rough night and couldn't sleep. Overall, he's in good spirits, has his laptop and ready to get going (you know how he is!)

Courtney, thank you for keeping us posted. My mom is his Aunt Louise and she has kept him on her mind and in her prayers constantly --- as have so many of his family and friends! Please tell him the entire HOOD clan loves him and is with him in spirit - thinking of him, pulling for him, and above all praying for him.
