February 1, 2018 Day 17
I would like to start this post with some great news! On Tuesday this week the doctors took a bone marrow sample out of my back side for testing. The test was to determine if all the cancer had been killed or if I would need more chemo. Tough to sit around for three day with that over my head. The doctor came in today around 1:00pm and gave me a high five. All the cancer is dead!! All your positive thoughts and prayers are working. Thank you so much
What a great feeling! The nurses all came by and gave us hugs, lots of tears. Great people here. The plan now is to wait for my immune system to recover so I can go home. I am currently still at zero, but it typically will take 7 to 12 days from now for my system to recover. I don't want to rain on my own good news, I just want to add clarity to the situation. Once I go home, I face two options that the doctors have yet to decide on. They have a group pow-wow of sorts, look at everything and decide what they think is best - more chemo as outpatient or more outpatient chemo and a marrow transplant (not the option we want, but one day at a time).
Hair update: I joined the Bald is Beautiful club yesterday. I had to shave my head yesterday because the mess was getting out of control. I uploaded three new pictures to let you see the results. Let me know if I look like a serial criminal or Stanley Tucci?
