February 5, 2018. Day 21
That was a great Super Bowl! Exciting to watch and great for Philly. The keeping it boring streak continues. No unforeseen issues and I have managed to keep a lid on my temperature. I don't recall if I explained earlier, but if my temp goes over 100.4 boring status goes away. At 100.4, they assume you have an infection and you spend the next several hours getting run around the hospital for different tests. They generally don't find a cause (they tell me this is normal) and you get to spend the rest of your stay here on antibiotic drips. I have been working hard to avoid all this.
Last night a new nurse assistant was working my room, taking my vitals, BP, oxygen & temp. My temp was at 100.5. I asked her not enter that into the computer because that was not my actual temp. She said she had to and I said go get the nurse, I really do not want this entered. She relented. I stripped all my clothes except my sweats and asked her to come back in 20 minutes. When she came back and re-took my temp it was at 98.9. I am learning the game.
My white blood cell count final got off zero this morning, it went to 3.3. It is a small movement, but at least it is starting to move and I love it. If it picks up steam, I might be out of here in the next 7 days. I can't let myself get too excited, because if it takes longer I will be depressed.
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes, thoughts and prayers.

Hey Kevin, Stoked to hear your white blood cell count movement, every little bit helps and is progress!! Love that you didn’t let that temp nurse run the show, you showed her - smart move! Keep up the good work, we are pushing the positive love and energy your way! Hugs, Darcy and Tj
Way to take charge! Such good news to hear your marrow is kicking in! Sending big hugs!
We are sending positive thoughts and good wishes your way every day! Way to go on learning the system. Your temp was probably up because you thought the Patriots were going to get that last touchdown and pull off another win like usual. So glad you are moving in the right direction. Keep posting this wonderful news.
Kevin, my Karen says you look pretty handsome in the new bald and beardless format - because you are younger and better looking than me in the first place. She was not very receptive to the baldness solidarity concept, even though I suggested I could leverage it for my costume for the Mardi Gras ball this weekend. So instead, I went and donated platelets this afternoon, which might actually benefit someone, as opposed to just looking like me with no hair. Keep on keeping on and building cells. And keep tabs on your son in Nawlins, because it's probably getting pretty hard to focus on classes with all the partying that is going on there.
I love how your military training showed up. Do not take "no" for an answer. Way to go Kevin! The white blood cells are on the move. That's good news! Keep showing them what a trouper you are. Positive energy, thoughts and prayers coming your way.
There's some excellent research that demonstrates how patients who stand up for themselves have the best prognoses. You go Kevin! I love your spunk! And good news on the uptick -- it's all going in the right direction. Sending lots of grow, grow, grow messages to your bone marrow today.
