I am still in the hospital, but I am getting better and getting closer to going home. Since getting here it has been rounds of antibiotics, fevers, blood tests and low blood counts due to the chemo. As of today I would say that we have turned the corner. I have not spiked a fever in the past 20 some hours and my blood numbers finally starting to come up. My hope is that this continues and I can go home in a couple days.
Since I have no interesting stories about myself at the moment, unless you want to hear how I walked in the sun the past two days, I thought I would give an update on my kids.
Kelsey is going to graduate OSU this spring with a BA degree in operations management, a BA degree in marketing and a minor in Spanish. The checks we cut went to good use. Kelsey went thru a strange internship process a few months ago on campus. I don't recall all the details, I am sure resumes were involved but the interview was the wild part. Kelsey had to be on stage alone, and the 50 companies looking for an intern were in the audience asking question. It was the same for each applicant. I think this would scare the crap out of most people, Kelsey lives for kind of stuff. The OSU faculty person running the process said she killed it. The way I under stand how it works is a like the draft. Company #1 get first pick, then company #2 and so on. Kelsey's only stipulation on the internship was it had to be in Portland. She was offered an internship with Blount International a global manufacturer of farm, ranch, ag, lawn, garden and concrete cutting tools. Concrete cutting tools...hell yay....she needs to work the just to get me some cool tools. Their corp hq is in SE industrial park off hwy 224. She is killing it and I could not be prouder.
Grant is down at Tulane University in New Orleans. With freshman you worry that they will get home sick, or party to much, or not put in the effort but Grant has blown us away. Grant is in the honors dorm and has made a bunch of friends that like to study and get good grades....YES. Tulane is a tough school with a lot of smart kids and we worried the pressure would get to him but it has just motivated him. He got great grades his first semester and seems to be on track this second semester. We are very happy how things have been going for him.
Karen has a slight cold so she cannot visit me right now, which is why this post was not proof read....my apologies. Thanks for letting my boast about my kids and thanks for all your comments.

Always love hearing about your kids and very glad to hear your numbers are coming up! Manzo and Theo send their love. Hope to see you home soon!
Nice work kids. We've worked with Blount for years. Kevin you have to take a tour. They have some sweet old growth log memorabilia and some gigantic saw blades from back in the day. Glad to hear you are doing ok and hope you can make it home by the weekend!
You and Karen have a lot to be proud of. Keep up the good work.
Glad to hear you have turned a huge corner. In your earlier post, that was nerve racking, however, it's typical and that is a relief. Congrats on your kidos doing such a fabulous job. No surprise there with the great parents they have:) In the meantime, keep up your positive attitude, it shows in your results! Janine
Kevin...we can only vouch for Kelsey, but couldn't agree more. Thanks for letting us have her over spring break!
