April 3rd, 2018

I just finished round two of consodation chemo.  Got six doses of chemo over the past five days and now I get a few weeks to recover before starting round three.  The idea with this consolidation process is if there are any cancer cells hiding somewhere the additional chemo will kill it off.  The medical community has 20 years of data that says this works so I will stay the course.

We had both kids home for part of spring break and it was great.  At 18 & 22 they are old enough now to have adult conversations.  It is so fun to listen to their take on current events, their interest about how to handle adult situations and their plans for the future.  We sat around the dinner table and talked for an hour after the meal.  The other cool thing is that they keep us young.  If not for them telling us about the latest tech, trends, fashion and music we might be frozen in time.  I feel comfortable that they are going to make a good addition to our overall community.

As for me, I am just trying to keep busy with small projects I can handle when I feel like it, and can be left undone for a while when I don't feel like it.  It is frustrating, I have always been go go go, lining up the next project before the one I am working on is done.  Slowing down is harder than it seems.  A few more months of this and hopefully I will be back to normal.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement.

Keep up the positive work! I believe all will be well and you will back to go go go before you know it. Maybe this is your time to really slow down and reflect and appreciate all that is around you that you have contributed to and everyone who loves you. Thinking about you and wishing you positive energy.

Hang in there Kevin. You can do this. Nice to hear you got a chance to visit both young adults in the same place at the same time. Those are special times.

Keep up the good work Kevin. You are such a positive person. You never focus on how hard anything is you just keep moving forward. I love that you only see the end of this process and that you don't dwell on what it is taking for you to get there. Stay positive and I love that you, Karen, Kelsey and Grant all got to spend time together. I am sure that was the best medicine. Sending our love!!!!

Hi Kevin! With the knowledge of today's medicine, I know you're in good hands. I believe most of it rides on you and your attitude and your totally kicking ass in that department!! Nice to hear you were able to spend quality time with your family, it's so important. Thank goodness they keep you up on the latest fashions, we would hate to see you still wearing your headband and Richard Simmons short shorts, LOL:) As your one friend Darcy stated, down time is not such a bad thing. Embrace it while you can, before you know it, you'll be back up to warp speed. Take care my friend, Janine

Kevin! So great to hear about the quality time with your kids. They have been under great care, with team Kevin & Karen leading the way. It's nice to see that they are flourishing as they step out on their own and start to make adult decisions. That makes a parent proud, plus it's pretty cool that they want to hang out and chat and share new discoveries with you. Pete and I are still in the "gosh we're pretty sure this works out, but we will not know for a while" stage. :) So glad that medicine is helping you kick cancers butt, your attitude has a lot to do with it! It's also nice to know that your body is able to modify it's speed, being on the go go go is nice, but there is much to learn in quality rest and quiet. We certainly miss you around here. Can't wait to get caught up.
