It has been a good weekend of eating whatever I want. Had plenty of salads and avocados. I am starting to go a little stir crazy so Karen and I made some field trips out of the house to do some shopping for stuff we don't need. I don't think we even bought anything. We bundled up and went for some walks in the rain and cold. You would think I have been bald long enough that my head would not get cold anymore....not the case.
Here is a short funny story. Most of you know that Grant is going to college in New Orleans. I told him that he needs to do something fun for spring break. Get some friends and go somewhere he has never been. He took my advice and rounded up some friends. He called a few weeks ago and told me he found a villa in Gulfport Mississippi close to the beach. The place was big enough to sleep 10, had a swimming pool, a private lake with a boat, two jacuzzi's, BBQ and was very nice. I saw pictures and it looked pretty good. He said you are not going to believe how much it costs, $120/night total, not per person. $20/night for each of the 6 that went. I told told him that was was better than he was going to get anywhere around here. You can't get a Motel 6 for $20/night. He seems to be having too much fun to send any pictures to his mom and dad.
Tomorrow Karen and I will do a couple more outings and some walks to coffee. Wednesday I head back to the hospital start round two of chemo, yuck. The way I look at it is tomorrow marks me being 25% complete with the consolidation. When I finish the next round I will be half done and I know what to expect this time.
I hope you are doing well.

Great advice for Grant and what a deal!! Things are sure cheaper down south -- I speak from experience. I hope he's enjoying New Orleans. I get very homesick for the campus - my first post-college job was at the Tilden Library - and I love jogging in beautiful Audubon Park. I wonder what he thought of Mardi Gras! And soon it'll be Jazz Fest time. Lots of good ways in New Orleans to get a break from his hard work at Tulane! Meanwhile, I'm so happy you're savoring the yummy foods and getting out and about before round two. If I knew how to knit I'd knit you a hat ;) Uggggh about round two and Yes!! You're 25% there and soon to be half-done. You are DOING it Kevin and Karen!! So great. So strong. You're both my inspiration when I'm feeling tired, annoyed, etc. about the day-to-day small stuff. Your posts remind me to appreciate life -- even the annoying, tiring, etc. stuff. Thanks you two!
Enjoyed reading this post and continue to be inspired by your spirit and incredible energy levels- keep it up and you’ll get to that complete mark before you know it!!! Blake and his buddies are yelling ‘Team Kevin’ in the background at the beach just now... and that’ pretty much sums it up for today- we love you Kevin!
Love the posts Kev! Keep 'em up! And you're almost halfway there!
It's great to hear everything is going well and just like everybody else. This is a good thing that you are not throwing any curve balls at the doctors. This is a great time to boast about your kids, don't stop.
Happy Spring! It sounds like you and Karen are making the most of your time away from the hospital. Your attitude contu=inues to inspire. Keep at it and keep the posts coming.
