Round 1, Days 4 and 5

Friday and Saturday

If you're looking for something exciting to read, you might be on the wrong website. Nothing much going on here. Mike is on his last 24hr bag of chemo for this round ....And for THAT, I am SO thankful!

Mike is doing good! He hasn't felt nausea yet, but he is feeling a little more tired each day. His taste buds are dying, so his food is starting to taste a little "blah" to him. He is still in a good mood though. He harasses these poor nurses all day (and night). I think they must like it though, because his nurse Michelle told us that she requested to the previous day's Charge Nurse to be assigned to him. Today his nurse is Brooke, and she is my kind of people. Not because she's pregnant, (I'm not pregnant) but because she's super laid back and funny. She laughs at all of Mike's jokes and sarcasm, so she's his kind of people, too.

The only other news we have is that we have a tentative plan for next week. Tomorrow afternoon he should finish his 3drug Chemo Infusion, then he will have another medication infused which takes about an hour. As soon as all of that is done he will be DISCHARGED from the hospital!! hooray! I mean, they're all nice here, but I want to sleep next to my husband! Monday we have an appointment at 9 for his Neulasta shot, which will boost his counts in his bone marrow. We should have Tuesday completely free, as long as he's feeling ok. Wednesday morning we will come back for lab work. If the labs look ok, then we get to GO HOME! We are missing the kids really bad, so we just keep thinking positive and focusing on getting back there to them. Molly ended up losing her first tooth yesterday when she was at a friend's house. She face timed us and couldn't stop smiling. Mike and I were so excited for her. It's so fun to see your kids get so excited over something. Wish we could have been there. I haven't talked to the tooth fairy yet to see if she got her penny!

Thursday morning we have an appointment at KU Med with our new Oncologist, Dr. Mundis. He did his fellowship training up here at the Mayo Clinic, so he's already got that going for him with Mike. (We all know how devoted Mike now is to this place! haha)

It will make us feel much better to be established with an oncologist that's close by as soon as we get home so that we aren't "in between care".

That's all for now. The only other thing to say, again, is the most heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one of you. For everything. All the big and little things you do.

Love you guys,

xoxo

Robin

Hi Robin. You dont know me but we are friends of Corey and rhonda hale. I know your journey because my husband was diagnosed with non Hoskins lymphoma large T cell in April of last year. We went to the cancer clinic in Topeka from April to September and ended up at Ku medical on the BMT (bone marrow transplant) blue team. I can not praise ku enough and the team of drs and nurses and staff. From September to a week ago we stay at the hope lodge in KCMO for free because the American cancer society pays for it. Which was an absolute God sent for us. A wonderful place to stay!!!! We are still on our journey and continue the appointments at ku medical center 2 times a week. I can relate to everything you have said on your posts. Your journey will have alot of ups and downs. Be strong and rely on your family and friends. I know I am a stranger to you but if you ever want someone to talk to that has been where you are now please contact me. 785-249-5960. May God be with you both and turn everything over to him. He will get you through it day by day. Thanks for sharing your journey. Kay Adkins

Low-key days are good days! I love reading your posts and Mike's positive and joking attitude as I'm sure the nurses enjoy that as well. Miss Molly is such a mini-me -- OMG! Let's just hope she never has to share a cake with a cousin because there better be two of every piece of decoration (Ariel!)!! ;-). Love you to you and the Mr!
