Heart Talk
We slept great last night. We woke up and started getting ready for the day. I think I went about 5 minutes this morning before I even thought "My husband has cancer. He's getting chemo." I feel like it's usually been on a loop in my head. Just waking up next to him and feeling like it was any other normal morning (of doctor's appointments) was much better than waking up alone to go see him in the hospital. I brought breakfast up to the room for him, and then face timed with some of my dear girlfriends for some Monday morning coffee chat. That was a definite bright spot in my day. (So far)
We got to Station 74, which is where the outpatients report to on the Hematology floor. They're pretty popular up there. Mike's blood pressure was up a little bit, but we laughed about it. OF COURSE it was- he's getting his Neulasta shot and I think we all have a pretty good picture of what Mike gets like around needles, by now...
The shot went fine, they drew his blood, and we talked to the Nurse Practitioner about how he's feeling. She did her assessment on him and noticed that his heart rate was a little high. Yeah, yeah, he just had a shot.. more jokes. She thought we better get an EKG just to check it out.
Well, well, look what they found. Mike's heart is in A-Fib now. I asked her if she thought it was due to the Chemo or the Lymphoma. She thought lymphoma. So now he's on a blood pressure medication. His list of medications is growing faster than the lymph nodes were. Yikes! So that's just another little bump in the road. This new little heart condition earned him an order to make a repeat appearance at Station 74 again tomorrow, and then still on Wednesday before we go home.
Like we've said before, Mike just likes to keep things interesting. Thanks, Honey.... don't worry about what you're doing to MY heart over here... haha.
Speaking of lymph nodes, I don't want to get overly excited here, but they are shrinking! There was one, just under his ear that was growing really fast- and today I can barely feel it! Die cancer!! The chemo must be working! It has to be.
Mike just had a big lunch-yay for a good appetite still- and now he's taking a little nap. They did tell him that the heart meds can make him a little more fatigued. He said if they give him anything else that will make him fatigued he'll be in a coma. :) He's got jokes, still!
All our Love. And thanks for sending Yours!
xoxo

I must have been at the chiropractor and missed our FaceTime call?!??! LOL! Robin, seriously, you could be a writer!!
Thanks for the updates! I love that the two of you use your sense of humors to get thru this!!! God is carrying you both thru all of this so you won't ever be doing it alone! I pray for you guys several times thru the days! Your both very special to us!
I love your updates, Robin! You and Mike are such a great couple-- you always make me smile!
Hey Robin/Mike....I second what Kelli says....these updates are very informative and real.....you don't see that often. It is great to hear Mike (and you) have such great personalities to keep your humor. Anyways....stupid joke of the day: Did you hear that thieves broke into the police station last night and stole all the toilets? In an update on the investigation, a police spokesman said the police have nothing to go on.
