Home Sweet Home

The second hospital stay is done! Everything felt so much easier this time. At least, for me. Mike finished the chemo around 4:30 and then it was his favorite part: They unhooked him from everything and he might have yelled, "FREEDOM"! Or he might have just thought it since everyone was sleeping. He was up early after that and had walked a mile before I even got up. The attending doctor rounded at 8:00 and got his discharge stuff lined up. His nurse promised we would be out of there before lunch.

I think it's funny how I'm usually such a procrastinator. When we have to pack to leave for the hospital, I'm throwing stuff in bags 2 minutes before we have to walk out the door. However, when we are going to get discharged from the hospital, that's a different story. By 9:30 I had everything packed and loaded in the car. Then I was trying to kill time so I bagged all the linens for them. I was ready to start cleaning, but then they told me they couldn't pay me to do it, so I sat back down to try to relax. 10:15  rolls around and we were outta there. We stopped at the pharmacy to pick up the Prednisone. He'll just take a low dose for the next couple days.

Tomorrow morning we go to the clinic for lab work and his Neulasta shot. He is already pretty stressed about it, so I'm really hoping that this week goes much better than week 2 in the 1st round. I feel like it will. He is starting Claritin already so that should help with the sinus congestion that he had. He is weaning off of the Prednisone, and most importantly, he's at home. I think the combination of all of these things are going to make a difference. #optimism.

Now that we are getting settled back in at home, I'm unpacking and doing laundry, and Mike is whispering sweet nothings to his recliner. Or, he's just talking in his sleep. Either way, he's happy to be home, and I'm happy he's feeling ok. He's pretty tired, but that's something we can handle.

Hope you're all having a quiet, relaxing, and rejuvenating Sunday. I know we will be. There's definitely no place like home.

XOXO

Robin

I remember the days when stories were told about a recliner being the only furniture in Mikey's house. Let that be a warning, Robin😃 Welcome home, sleep tight!!
