Back To The Grind |9-13-16|
First things first.
Happy Birthday to Mike's mother, Nancy. We appreciate everything you do for us, and love you so much!
The past couple weeks haven't been too exciting, really. Mike got his first dose of Brentuximab on Thursday, September 1st. He felt fine the first couple days afterwards, but at his appointment that following Sunday they gave him the shot that boosts his cells, and makes his bones hurt. He was feeling pretty bad from that for a few days last week. At his appointment last Thursday, they told him he was right on the verge of being neutropenic, and he could either get the shot then, or wait until he goes in on Sunday to see how his counts are. He chose to wait, so he got another shot on Sunday when he was officially neutropenic. It didn't kick his butt as bad this time, but he's definitely still down compared to how he was feeling a couple weeks ago.
The girls are into the swing of school now, and it has been great to get into a routine. I am so thankful for the people who are helping us out with them. They have really adjusted pretty well to the craziness that is our life right now. Molly keeps asking me when Daddy is going to leave to go the hospital to stay. I just tell her we have a little while, still, and she gets so excited.
I included some pictures that a woman from Florida sketched of our family. The one of all of us was the one that I had ordered from her, but the one of Mike & the kids was a surprise. Isn't she the sweetest? I just love them so much! She has an etsy shop called MeAndMyPrints if you're interested in having her sketch something for you. I need to get them hung up now!
I'm also including a link to an article that is about immunotherapy drugs and the KU BMT center where Mike is a patient. It's very interesting and gives me goosebumps, but even more, it gives me so much hope!

The only other thing going on around here is that I'm crazy and decided I wanted to re-paint my cabinets (for the 2nd time!). I love doing projects like this, but it's time consuming, and I get a little cranky when my house, especially the kitchen, is a disaster. So, I'm petitioning for anyone who wants to help, to come on over and either help with the cabinets, or entertain the tiny dictators we've created. Your choice. :) Haha. No, really, though, I bet it will take me a couple weeks and it will all be done and looking fantastic! I always need creative projects to keep my mind and hands busy while we're killing time waiting for the next round of chemo.

Robin - you are a rockstar! I've been wanting to paint my cabinets for a couple of years now and haven't got the nerve to do it! Here you are with three kiddos and a husband fighting cancer and you're doing it - thanks for making me feel like a lazy chicken! :) Seriously, though, you are amazing and Mike is so lucky to have you! Hang in there all of you and know you've got a lot of support, prayers and love being sent your way! Thanks for keeping us posted. - Brooke Waggoner
Those drawings are awesome. Thanks for the update.....here's some jokes for you guys: Q. Why did the cookie go to the hospital? A. Because he was feeling crummy. Q. What kind of horses go out after dusk? A. Nightmares! Q. What happened when the butcher backed into his meat grinder? A. HE GOT A LITTLE BEHIND IN HIS WORK
I always look forward to your posts, and to see how you all are doing, we will keep all of you in our prayers.
