Wedding Anniversary Number 7. |1-6-17|
Mike and I had some good laughs this morning talking about this date, January 6th, and the 8 January 6ths we've seen together sharing the same last name. Last night he was being ornery and was giving me a hard time about something I can't even remember what it was now, and he yells, "YOU SAID FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE. YOU SAID THOSE WORDS!" He's right. I did. And, "In sickness and in health." I think I'm doing an ok job of holding up my end of the deal.
January 6, 2010- The beginning. POURING rain, in Jamaica. I was scheduled to get my hair done at the salon on the resort at 8:00, our wedding was scheduled for 11:00. Mike ran with me through the hurricane like rain only to find that the salon didn't even open until 9:00. We are still confused about why they would do that. So we were absolutely soaked, and thinking this wasn't a very good way to start things out. I was pregnant with Molly and we were so excited to start our life together, and soon, a family of 3. We were in love, but we didn't have a clue what we were getting into. We often joke that that vacation was the worst trip ever, except for the fact that we got married. I'd love to go back and give Jamaica a chance to right its wrongs with me!
Jan 6, 2011- One year anniversary! Nancy bought us some non alcoholic wine since we were expanding our family of 3 to a family of 4 soon.
The rest of the years are a blur...... We just look back and say, "We were crazy!" But we wouldn't change a thing.
I do remember that we spent our 6th anniversary at the Mayo Clinic. We are such adventurers.
Mike has taken great pride in his joke, "I've made her live in a camper twice, got cancer, and she still won't leave me!" Poor guy. He's stuck with me.
For more health related news: His rhinovirus panel came back negative. Yay! They moved his start date back to Tuesday so that he will get his stem cells transplanted into him on the 17th. One year to the day, when he got the phone call, "You have lymphoma." How crazy.
So we're going to check into the Hope Lodge on Monday afternoon, and he will start chemo on the 10th.
This week has flown by, which is a great thing, but I feel like I just can't soak up the feeling of the kids' little arms around me, and Reid's sweet little kisses, enough. I just want to freeze time. Let him sleep snuggled up to me forever.
Hopefully next year, on this day, I'll be on a beach somewhere.... but only if Mike's beside me. Wherever he is, I will be there too. Even if it's just in his recliner. He's so lucky. :)
XoXo
Robin
