Big day for Michael... Prayers Needed
Thank you very much for all of your prayers for Michael’s healing. Michael especially needs your prayers today.
Unfortunately, Michael has been unable to sustain adequate oxygen saturation levels even with the ECMO machine and ventilator running at full capacity.
It is toxic to the body to keep the ventilator at 100%. Michael’s team here at BWH has determined the best chance at being able to reduce the ventilator is to prone him (flip Michael on his stomach).
There are significant, life-threatening risks to proning someone on ECMO - namely, keeping the cannula lines in tact during the flip as well as maintaining his oxygen saturation at acceptable levels during the process.
It is crucial for Michael’s recovery that the proning results in increased oxygen saturation levels and they are able to reduce the ventilator.
Please pray for success in the proning process itself, and that we achieve the intended benefits.
