Successful Procedure
Though Michael remains critically ill, we are happy to report that the procedure was successful.
Michael receives approximately 90% of his oxygen from the ECMO machine and 10% from the ventilator. The ECMO machine’s functionality had been deteriorating for the last couple weeks.
This evening the BWH team decided to exchange Michael’s ECMO machine for a new ECMO machine. The major risk in exchanging machines was that Michael might not survive solely on the ventilator during the 30-60 second machine exchange.
Much of the success was due to Michael’s will to survive on extremely low oxygen - while completely disconnected from ECMO - during the exchange.
Thank you for your rapid response to our call for prayers. We are grateful for the incredible BWH team and now pray for increased flow on the new ECMO machine.

Thank you Lord for a successful procedure! Now, again...we pray for a complete healing for Michael. Continue to give him the strength to fight his way through the obstacles that may be in his way - In prayer, we send all the illness to the foot of the cross to be destroyed by Jesus Himself, and ask that Jesus fill all the empty spaces with all good, productive healing cells and strengthen Michael's body, mind and spirit in the process. We ask this again Heavenly Father, through Christ, Our Lord and Healer, AMEN.
