One down, three to go.... 3/3/16
.…that is, until I go nuclear.
I’m feeling pretty good having completed my first course of Chemotherapy. Not what one expects to hear I suppose.
Just getting the ball rolling is scary - the what ifs, unknowns, all the stuff you see about chemo in movies and on TV. Especially in the older shows, is enough to keep this girl up at night.
For now, the plan is 4 courses of chemo, each taking 50 hours and then waiting two weeks before starting the next course. This will be followed by radiation in conjunction with chemotherapy for another 6 weeks. Of course the question Bill dead panned for the oncologist was, “will the radiation treatment make Shannon more like the Incredible Hulk or Deadpool?” My oncologist didn’t know what to say and shot me a look to me to see if I was laughing, and of course I was. After radiation and chemo and there are no setbacks the tumor will have shrunk to an operable size and then the surgeon will evict the "freeloaders." Once I heal up from surgery I have another 4 months of chemotherapy to look forward to. Easy peasy, I got this.
I know I will have days that are good and days when I will be feeling terrible, but today I am feeling great, and I’ll take it.
