OOOWWWWW & GRROOOOSSSSS 3/13/16
They told me this was supposed to be better.
After Tuesday I kept a low profile and I still wasn’t feeling that great. Bill brought over a few more pieces of furniture and fun stuff from our house during the week tomake our little apartment feel more like a home. We got some art hung on the walls and that really helped spruce the place up.
Thursday night I could hardly sleep a wink. I spent the night walking the distance between my bedroom and living room trying not to wake Bill up. Needless to say it made for a lot of short laps. I’ve got to admit I was worried about having the port put in. After all I don’t even have pierced ears and now some stranger is going to stick an uncomfortable hunk of plastic in my chest.
Bill got me to the hospital, early of course, and I went in and got prepped for the procedure. Once I signed all the waivers holding them harmless for whatever tom-foolery that would occur once I was sedated we were ready to go. Next thing I knew I woke up from my nap getting wheeled past a waiting room with Bill staring out at me with a bunch of stitches and some super glue holding a plastic disk and some tubing in chest. All I could think was, owwwww & grooosss.
I went home and really can’t remember the rest of the day.
Saturday was spent recovering in preparation for what was coming on Monday and visiting with some family and friends. My niece Kiera drew me a new picture to put on the fridge and Bill spent the weekend doing some much needed errands. A number of friends stopped by including Tony and Claudia. Tony, a long time reflexologist who worked with cancer and terminally ill patients gave me a well-timed reflexology session that provided some much needed relief. We visited with my parents and Bill’s parents too then called it an early night.
Sunday was another low key day. I was worrying about starting round 2 on Monday. My port site was so swollen and bruised the thought of looking at it let alone touching it made my stomach churn. I couldn’t imagine someone jabbing it with a needle in less than 24 hours. Trying to remember my silver lining through my apprehension and knowing that if we stay the course I get a better set of odds, and I’ll take that.
