New Update - December 28
Greetings and news from Harmony:
Good morning. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We were very thankful to all be together this year.
Plans have been made, so here's the latest:
Due to circumstances surrounding the availability of the donor, my mom will need to have another round of MEC, which is the intensive chemo treatment she underwent in October.
She checked into OHSU last night.
MEC is one of the preliminary chemotherapies given to prepare the body for transplant. Laura's body is in a much stronger place "count"-wise this time (her white cells and neutrophils are high and leukemic cells are still absent, showing the fought-for remission that she acquired in October, which is awesome.) We are very hopeful that she comes through this round of MEC without infection and illness.
As of now, the transplant is scheduled for mid-February.
Please pray with us about the following:
- for the donor, that he or she will remain confident and not back out. That peace and joy and great blessing will be theirs.
- for Laura's body in response to MEC. MEC was hard the first time through. We are hoping and praying for a successful treatment with no negative side affects, no infections, and no prolonged sickness.
- for the former pneumonia/lung issue to NOT return.
- for peace of mind, strength of spirit, hope of heart, and clarity of mind to be bouyed up in my mom over the next several weeks of hospitalization.
We will keep you up to date as things move forward. Here we go again! Thank you for being with us, and praying with us through to the end of this journey! May we really be beginning the very last chapter, now...in the beautiful, wonderful name of Jesus. <3
