Tue, 2/17/15 Keeping cool!
This is my new “cool” look because of the high sensitivity to cold that the chemo causes:
I have to wear long-sleeved, high neck sweaters to cover my neck when I go outside. This is in addition to a warm coat with a big hood. I get to take the coat off when I come inside. Well, sometimes.
I have to wear a scarf to cover my nose and face.
I’m sporting a lovely fanny pack. Yes, a fanny pack. I tried to be cool and wear it on the side of my hip. Nope. Works best in the front. I get to wear this for 46 hours after chemo to carry my dosi-fuser which slowly infuses more chemo through my port. No showers until after it’s removed. Be glad you don’t live with me! Or have to stand down wind.
Under that shirt is lots of tubing taped to all parts of me. With the portacath, the tubing, the insulin pump (I have Type 1 diabetes) and the CGM device (tells my pump my glucose), I’m quite covered in gadgets. Kaitlyn told me to say, “Go! Go! Gadget!” to see if anything happened. It didn’t. Bummer.
Fuzzy socks to keep my toes warm so they don’t get that tingling from the cold sensitivity.
And I now wear gloves 24 hours a day. Yes, for the cold sensitivity but mostly because I like to do jazz hands. It’s super cool…ask my kids!

You're the only person I know who looks that cute when going through chemo! I love it!
Jazz hands are pretty sweet. Get some tap shoes, work on a routine, and hopefully someone will catch it all on video. You'll be a youtube sensation, just like the guy who plays trombone for his cows. I feel like you could use some flashing twinkle lights wrapped around you, and maybe add a battery-powered mini-heater to the get-up for even more functionality. Whaddya say? And...that smile...nothing needed there, you have it covered. Love you!

Thank you so much for the updates Sarah. I appreciate them so much and am praying for you and Scott and the girls. It is so helpful to feel connected and a part of the process since we are so far away to lend any help with meals, etc. But i can pray! And pray I am! Xo
I have a high sensitivity to cold....and I'm not on chemo!! Whadya say we both move south and find a warm sunny beach to hang out on! :) Love the gloves and socks, and of course the smile! :)
