Thought I’d give an update:

It’s been a great couple of days. I’m more active (Keep Active!).

I’m eating better and trying to come up with strategies to help my family make sure I’m getting enough calories without having to ask, “Have you eaten?”

I’m napping when I need to…well, when my body says, “Sleep! NOW!”  Which I’m hoping is promoting lots of healing. I need my white blood cell count up so that I can do the next chemo session.

I can go places and do things and Wow! It’s amazing.

I get a lot of questions about my treatment plan, so here it is:

Chemotherapy with FOLFOX/Avastin, administered every two weeks, for a total of 4-6 months depending on response and tolerance.

Each treatment is given over several hours (4-5) in the office, and continued for an additional two days (at home) on an infusion pump (hence, the super-cool fanny pack and go-go-gadget tubing).

Repeat scans will be performed after the fourth treatment (March 30, if I can keep to this schedule) to be sure it is working well--as expected.

So, if I can keep healthy and eat nutritiously to counterattack the side-effects, I can remain on the two-week schedule. That is my goal: every two weeks. I want this cancer gone. The sooner it can stop spreading the better. However, it also takes out the good stuff, too. But I’m willing to sacrifice the good to lose the bad.

Thankfully, with all the research (and real-life cancer experiences) that have been done (medically and non-medically), I can counteract a lot of the side effects with good nutrition, lots of fluid intake, rest and medication. A lot of people have had this therapy and with great success. Many of you have shared your stories. Thank you.

So, there it is. It’s been a great week so far. More normal than crazy. But our normal is a little crazy, so I guess that’s good.

Thank you, as always, for your kind and encouraging words and your numerous prayers. They are invaluable. Have a most wonderful day!

I keep looking for the "like" button as I read everyone else's comments . . . but I guess it's not "that" website. I like your plan of action and goals - - it will help keep the end and all that it potentially holds for you in sight. Keep trudging, and though some days may be harder than others, you will make it through. May He continue to "hold you in the palm of His hand". My prayers and love to you and the family.
