It's Starting

It is soooo cool that this web site has been setup. I think it will be a great venue for all of us to communicate with each other and I know it makes me feel good.

Yesterday, Dr. Schultz put my port in at Aspen Valley Hospital (AVH).  The port is located in my upper right chest and is used to give medications.

Today, Tom and I are currently at the University of Colorado, Aurora (UCH). We started the day meeting my Radiation Oncologist who explained what was involved in the radiation treatment and its side effects Radiation starts on 11/03.

Next, we met with a nutritionist who gave me eating ideas to make sure I get enough calories and protein.

Back to Radiology where they fitted me for the vest that is used for the Radiation therapy. It included a CT scan where they measure and determine exactly where the beam will be directed. The beam has an accuracy of 2mm. Chemotherapy starts on 16/03 and is only one day per week as opposed to Radiation which is five.

For my Phi Phi friends, I got three new tattoos today but they are just boring dots. (haha)

My last appointment was with the Pharmacist who taught us about the lovely side effects of chemotherapy and how to minimize them.

Treatment in Denver is for 5 weeks. It includes Radiation and Chemotherapy. It is to far to drive so Tom and I cruised around looking for an extended-stay place and settled in on a Marriott Townplace that has 2 bedrooms, internet, full kitchen and good price. It is about 20 minutes from UCH. As it turns out, it is the same place that Leanne Gorsuch and I stayed in when Chris had his head injury a few years back.

I can’t explain or express how much love I feel from all my friends and family but know it makes me feel better and sleep better at night.

I, with all your guys love and help will get through this.

LOVE

P.S. Shocking news… I broke down and got a smart phone. LOL
