Post surgery

Hello all, The surgery began at about 8:45 this morning and ended at 2:30. The surgery went well. We still need to wait on the results of the pathology on the cancer. This should take a few days and we'll have better information on the seriousness of the cancer. The surgeon said that the esophagus was one of the worst he's seen and not surprised that Eric was having so much trouble eating and drinking. He looks as good as you could hope for a boy who has had major surgery. Smiles and jokes a little. He is in no pain. He is still sedated. I expect him to say groggy all night in ICU. Tomorrow he'll probably move to a step down unit for the remainder of his 2 week stay. I'm going to stop in, drop off his pack and watch him sleep for about a 1/2 hour or so. I don't expect he'll be especially chatty. I"ll post tomorrow with a up date and news. .....tom
