9/21 Update

Team Shannon is doing well in training.  I think that I have covered everything and I'm waiting for the official OK that I can keep her alive.  They must be happy since they are giving us a day pass to go to a "Going Away" BBQ at the Whitings on Sunday.  That will be the first time out with only me.  We did get out to the movies today with the group.  Even though it was raining, Shannon is always happy to leave the hospital.

Since I have not added any pictures in awhile, I added some in the Photo section today.  She is sitting in a manual loaner chair from the hospital that she likes to use while at the hospital and when being pushed around.  Her motorized chair was ordered weeks ago and will be delivered the day after we get home in AG.  The timing will work well because her van should be ready next week as well.  And yes, that is her iPhone in her lap with a modified handle.  Siri is her new best friend as she listens well and follows orders.

Otherwise she is doing well and continues to make progress.  She regained the ability to sweat past her break this week (she had lost it after the accident-the body can be a strange thing).  This is great because it means that she can regulate her body temperature again. 

Small victories, one at a time...

Oh and so we don't forget our time here in SJ, Shannon will get to leave with a memento:  another Staff infection (MRSA but a weaker strain than last time-there are 3 antibiotics that can get it compared to only one last time) at her SP site.  The down side is she is back in quarantine (gowns and gloves for visitors), but the upside is she is back in a private room since there are no other women with the same infection.
