This is my first day of radiation, I have a wonderful mask made specifically for my face, which anchors me to the table so I cannot move. On the side of the mask are target points for the lasers to “hit” the targeted tumor. It’s not painful at all and I don’t feel a thing. It only takes about 10-15 minutes, but I have to go in Monday-Friday for the next 6 weeks. [...]

August 24, 2021; Biopsy Day

Today I had a brain biopsy 12 days after tumor discovery. My neurosurgeon only biopsied the smallest tumor since it was closest and easiest to reach. Samples were them sent off for genetic testing. Depending on its genetic makeup will determine the treatment regiment. I have to “heal” for a few more weeks before I can begin treatment.[...]

Week of August 16, 2021

On Monday, Aug. 16, the general neurologist referred me to a neurosurgeon. There were two separate tumors located in my brain. One in each hemisphere, the tumor on the right hemisphere (4.5 cm) was causing my left side weakness. The other tumor (1.0cm) was smaller and was showing no signs of affecting my mobility. [...]

My journey began in July of 2021 when I noticed I was having issues turning the pages of a book during playgroups and dropping cans of food at the grocery store. Several fingers on my left hand had began to lose their dexterity and it was beginning to become difficult to type. To solve this problem I clipped my fingernails on my left hand, but this didn’t help. I met with my general practitioner who cataloged my many symptoms; left hand weakness, slurring words, unable to swallow pills, etc. She referred me for an MRI. A week later I received my MRI, went home at 9am, and got a phone call instructing me to come back at 9:30 for a CT scan.[...]
