7-12 ECMO meets FOTO
We are hard at work preparing for our celebrity patient to come home. Mom has set up his new bedroom beautifully and Dad has painted the whole house also beautifully. His gear started to arrive today as well and Candy is busy coordinating the different docs and therapist he will be working with from home, arranging for his meds, buying a special new recliner (it’s Jensen Beach Blue 馃槑).
Walker had his traech removed today, whoop whoop, which is awesome making it much easier for him and us to manage and making it much safer for him to operate in public.
Auntie Gail ran into Dr. Botta today at work and told him Walker is going home Tuesday, hear teared up and went to visit Walker straight away. They chatted for a bit and Walker tells him, ”you saved my life”. It took Walker a few minutes to realize Dr. Botta was sitting there holding his Starbucks with a cast on both his wrist, his very valuable wrist. He fell off the back of a horse while on a trip in the mountains, had to ride down with cracked wrist, and he's been out 2 weeks so far. As we all say, Ya Gotta love Dr. Botta with his cowboy boots and country style. He and Dr. Silvestri are giants in our hearts forever!
Then tonight when I got here, walker and I wheeled over to see his new friend, Brianna. We met her yesterday, she has been in the ICU for 6 weeks, on ECMO for 20 days, had cardiac issues from an Influenza B attack. Yesterday Walker told her about his Blue Beta fish, ECMO, and she was like hey nobody told me I could do that. So we decided to buy her a red Beta fish for her room and I named it FOTO, cause she's a 22 yr old photographer. She said she loves the psychology of meeting people and breaking through the tension getting to know them. She is so very cute. It was a privilege to watch them chat today. She left for rehab after. Walker said he would stop by to say goodbye Tuesday on his way home. 馃槆馃槍馃憤
Please pray for Brianna and her Father, Jim Tribbett, as they lost their mom/wife in march to cancer and now this tough situation. Brianna also developed Gillian Barre syndrome while in the hospital which is very hard on the body but she will be overcome it in time. Please pray for the healing of her body and for supernatural strength for her Dad. Your prayers, our prayers, bring help to those who need it most!! Amen.
And have a great weekend.
Dave
