Celebrating one week home.
We had our 1st family BBQ since late February last night in Walkers honor to celebrate a successful 1st week home. We are very confident that we will pass the 2 week test with flying colors; they say if an ICU patient passes the 2 week mark at home without incident for having to return to the hospital that their recovery is well on track for success. This is where we are headed. 馃憤馃檹馃憣
Walkers recovery is an inch by inch life’s a cinch story. And we gladly, but often begrudgingly, accept our inch by inch circumstances. As modern Americans, the pace of this recovery goes against what we expect these days from our fast paced, make things happen now society. Lungs especially have a turtles mindset for winning the race.
It has taken many days of this pacing to curb our appetite to improve this turtles pace accepting some days a true inch as a win. Such is the story of lung trauma. Whatever you do don’t damage your lungs or you will greatly regret it.
Walker got to take his sweet ride VW Passat Sport, whom he calls Ronnie, for a spin a couple of days ago cause his Dad is cool that way :-). It was a true joy ride!! He kinda took off and went a little farther and dare I say faster, sorry hun, than I expected but he was handling it well so I just went where his desire took us.
After months of coaching Walker in his hospital bed to keep the image of driving his car and seeing Florida Hospital, now Advent Health, in his rearview mirror, it was especially SWEET!! to enjoy this ride to see it come true for him, for us. We will always be thanking God for all he did to save Walkers life and support us through this trial. Amen and Amen to that.
our prayers continue for healing of his lungs, to restart his kidneys, and his stomach to keep getting better. So as his Meemaw likes to say, “keep on keeping on” 馃憤馃憤馃檹馃檹馃檹

Great to see the smile! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Dad - taking Ronnie for a spin is a "mile" - not an "inch" achievement! And the journey continues!
Glad for good news! Continuing to pray for all the McKnights
