9-15. A very good week

Walker came home late Monday afternoon the 9th from the ICU at AdventHealth. During his stay there this time around, the doctors focused on qualifying him for a couple of important devices that are now making a huge difference in his ability to stay home. The docs had to show that He really needed these machines to get them covered by insurance. So, he came home with a BiPAP breathing machine and a High tech CPT vest.
The BiPAP machine has worked wonders and we thank God for this has made it safe and comfortable for Walker to sleep through the night which was not working well beforehand without it. So this week we had a good nights sleep for everyone especially his Mom and for Walker. We all know how much better life is when your getting a regular good nights rest. And the vest helps vibrate his chest when he needs it so that it helps to breaks up the mucus from the left lung that is essentially defunct.
I saw lots of smiles this week, heard many laughs, and even a bit of dancing for our Walker, he tried to get his Mom to join in a little as well. What a difference a good nights sleep makes! Today was a little harder in that Walker knew about his friends all out and about having fun and he’s stuck home, the boy in the bubble as he calls himself these days. The docs have said to he and Candy that they really would prefer him not engaging the public for a while yet, it’s just not safe.
On a personal note, I feel that God gave me a vision or better yet a promise to hold onto during this trial of a lifetime. You might recall how I was introduced to a guy, a couple of months prior to this starting, who had a similar severe pneumonia in his early twenties and they removed his left lung due to finding a cancer. I affectionately have called him, Mr. One Lung.
So, because as children of a God, we know that there are no coincidences in life but each interaction we have is orchestrated by a higher power, God meant for me to meet Hessiam Jebailey. He’s 41 now in great health and a great guy, for me he has been like a lighthouse in a storm for a sailor seeking his way. I keep this vision of a healthy young man with one very good lung living a great life in my mind knowing in my heart that God will deliver on this promise for us, for Walker.
Hessiam came to the hospital in late March to meet Candy and I. Then we ran into him weeks later by “chance” while getting lunch across town, seeing him at a critical moment as we were very distraught and scared for Walker after weeks on ECMO. I invited him to come meet Walker a couple of months later when he was recovering on the 5th floor after getting off ECMO. Then 2 weeks ago I run into him by “chance” at the opening game for UCF against FAMU and he has tickets in the club section at Spectrum stadium near us. Saw him again yesterday at the Stanford game.
So for me, each time I see him, I think and see and hold onto what I consider Gods promise to me, to us, that Walker will have a good long life using his right lung alone successfully just as Hessiam Jebailey has done. Glory be to God alone for the lighthouse in the storm, Mr. One Lung. Amen. Gods Grace abides as always. Amen.
